Three years ago tonight (& Fit Friday!)

Three years ago tonight I was sleeping fitfully between contractions.

Three years ago tonight M had just finished the last final for his second year of law school.

Three years ago tonight I’d never held a child of my own in my arms.

Three years ago tonight I still thought I was going to have an uneventful vaginal birth.

Three years ago tonight I thought I knew what lay in store for me. I really thought that babysitting for years was enough training for the parenting gig. HA!

oh… and

Three years ago tonight I weighed more than 200lbs. Ack. (I’m not sure how much more it was, at 37 weeks I topped 200lbs and after that I refused to look at the scale during my weekly check-ups. What can I say? I’m weak.)

So, in perspective, the fact that I was completely off track all week is totally fine, right? I’m pretty far from where I was that night. Oh, wait, I’m not 40+ weeks pregnant. OK, I have no argument. Sorry. It was a relatively easy week, especially compared to last week, but I had absolutely no willpower whatsoever. So much for planning…

And therein lies our tip for the week. Maybe, just maybe, some weeks you just have to cut yourself a little slack. Maybe you need to focus on doing the bare minimum and just maintain your weight. After all, it’s not about dieting, it’s about developing a healthier lifestyle, and in life you win some, you lose some.

This coming week I’m going to work on the things I failed miserably at this past week: drinking more water, journaling, and planning, planning, planning. I’m going to bring my lunch to work at least three times this week and I won’t be lured to the dark side of yummy fatty lunches by disruptive co-workers. I am strong! I can say NO! (I hope…)

  • You deserve a break what with planning the big party and all! LOL

    I have no excuse. I just suck at the whole willpower thing. I did my exercise. Discovered that somehow I had gained back the 4 pounds I lost. DId not drink enough water. Checked my BP and realized I need to get my happy behind to the doctor pronto.

    So….. not a good week healthwise! Wish me luck at the dr this week….
