A day in the life of a postpartum dieting mom who’s just gone back to work

standard November 29, 2007 12 responses

7:30 a.m – Breakfast in front of Yo Gabba Gabba. Frosted Mini Wheats and milk, – 6 pts*
9:30 a.m. – Get to work and turn on computer after harrowing commute. Coffee with milk – 1 pt
11 a.m. – Done checking blogs and answering e-mails. Granola bar – 2 pts
12:30 p.m. – Time for lunch! Chicken breast, salad, yogurt – 7 pts
2 p.m. – All this working hard is making me peckish. 100 cal snack pack – 2 pts
3:30 p.m. – I need another snack. 2 clementines – 1 pt
3:45 p.m. – OK. That so didn’t cut it. 100 cal snack pack- 2 pts
3:47 p.m. – Maybe this will quiet my hunger. Bite of a banana nut bread. Ew. Not counting the points.
5:00 p.m. – In the car going to get the girls. Darn, no more snacks. Gum to ward off hunger – 0 pts
5:30 p.m. – Discuss with husband merits of steak vs pizza for dinner. Feel good that there are enough points left over to eat a good steak dinner. Feel bad about blowing them on a few slices of pizza. What about ice cream? Need points for ice cream. Hmm. Ice cream.
6:00 p.m. – Make C dinner and eye the brand new container of Nutella. Points? Who cares about the points? I do. Turn away and push Nutella from mind. Nutella nags, and calls.
6:01 p.m. – Rummage in cutlery drawer for a spoon. Any spoon.
6:02 p.m. – Grab Nutella. Pull off crinkly gold foil protective wrapper. Dive in. Eat spoonful after spoonful of Nutella. Yummy yummy Nutella. Bajillion points. Forget points. Nutella good. Nutella making me happy. Nice Nutella.
6:03 p.m. – Put down spoon long enough to call husband and have him order pizza. Ask him to pick up ice cream on the way home. Hmm. Ice cream.
6:04 p.m. – Vow to get back on track tomorrow. Yeah. Tomorrow. If it’s a better day.

* All points are based on the Weight Watchers plan.

  • I SO identify with this post. Of course for me it’s the glass or three of red wine. But Nutella sounds good, too!

  • You had me at one point for the coffee. I never counted the coffee before. I knew you were in trouble then.

  • HAHAHAHA!! Sometimes I hate those stinking points…they haunt me in my sleep! The Nutella cracked me up too, because I love it, and pizza, and…too.

Are you back on track today??? I’m always fine at work, I just lose all sense of reason when I get home with my kids and then the kitchen calls…and I answer, BIG TIME!!

  • OH yes, the spoon of Nutella. That and peanut butter are huge pitfalls for me. Good luck tomorrow! This postpartum diet deal is the PITS!

  • This is SO me – So good, most of the day, then completely blow it once I get home. I commiserate.

  • I was directed to you via my cousin Sharon…I am enjoying reading your blog 🙂

  • I’m the same way with peanut butter, and with potato chips. Which is why I am still fat even after about a dozen attempts at Weight Watchers!

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I craved Nutella spread on graham crackers. It was like a drug for me, I had to have it at all hours!

  • I CANNOT believe I’m reading about nutella right now!!! I just got to my computer after grabbing a McVities biscuit and wishing I had some nutella to spread thickly across the top. We’re out, so I’m going to have to go to the store!

    Such a funny, wonderful post!

  • You have received the Egel Nest Award for blog eggsellence!

Come by and pick it up!

    Congrats!

  • Ha, just reading this post made me hungry. I started working out again a few days ago and rewarded myself with Moose Tracks ice cream, also for the past two nights in a row. Kind of defeats the purpose of working out, eh?

  • Congrats on your Egel Nest Award!

    Your blog is terrific!!

  • I’m really enjoying your posts! I laughed all the way thru this one. POINTS?? We don’t need no stinkin’ points!

    Congrats on the award!
