7 random things about little ol’ me?

standard November 7, 2007 6 responses

A meme! A meme! I’ve been tagged! Sorry, sorry, but it’s the very first time, so please forgive my excitement. I feel like the chubby girl who wasn’t picked last for the very first time. (I had a rough time in PE.)

I was tagged by my new pal over at Crummy Cupcake. (Don’t you just love the name of her blog?)
In her words: Anyway, the rules of the game are:
– Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog. (check)
– Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself. (Scroll on down!)
– Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs. (7 people? Oy!)
– Let each person know that they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog. (Will do!)

Here goes! 7 random things about little lo’ me:
1) I didn’t learn to speak English until I was 7. Until then I only spoke French. English is now my language of choice, though I speak both fluently. M thinks I’d make the perfect spy, I can blend in both in the US and in France. I’m not a spy. I promise.

2) When I was little I somehow acquired a stuffed rabbit that became my nighttime lovey. I only put it away when C got old enough to want to play with it. I wasn’t able to bring myself to share my oldest toy with her. It’s in a ziplock bag sitting at the top of my closet. I’m not proud that I was such a baby about this.

3) I am insanely lazy, but I’m usually too busy for anyone to notice. It does explain why our house is the messiest on the block.

4) I have an annoying (especially too my husband) tendency to start projects, but never finish them. The jacket I was knitting for C last winter has a back, a front and half a sleeve. Who knows if it’ll be finished in time for Little L to be able to wear it.

5) A corollary to 4 is something I inherited from my father. When I get interested in something new I feel compelled to purchase a ton of books on the subject. I immerse myself for a few months, then I get bored and move on to the next thing, often leaving projects half done. I’m trying hard to fight this trend. I hate feeling like a quitter. The first thing I’ve managed to stick to for a long time is my blog. The next thing I hope to see to fruition is my novel.

6) I’m a TV addict, but I hate sitting in front of it without doing something else. I used to knit or crochet, now I blog and surf the Internet. It’s impossible to knit with one hand and these days my other arm is usually filled with baby.

7) I’m pretty sure I don’t want any more children, but I can’t seem to bring myself get rid of my maternity clothes or the clothes Little L has outgrown. I’m not sure what that means. Maybe I’m just too sleep deprived to make those kinds of decisions right now.

And now for some other people!
(As tempting as it may be to just open this to the public, I feel like I should follow the rules, at least for my first meme, but if I didn’t tag you and you want to participate, knock yourself out, I know that, during NaBloPoMo,it’s sometimes tough to find something to say every day.)

I hereby tag:
The lovely Amanda at Ice My Cake, so she has something to do while vacationing.
The equally lovely Rima at Rimarama, just because I recently discovered her blog and I love it.
Professor J, for the honor of being my most recent new commenter!
KentuckyGal for the honor of being my most constant commenter! (I love you, babe!)
Candy at Candy’s Corner… yum…. candy…. oh and awesome blog!
oh, man, TWO more!
J at No Place Like It for reminding about all the things I love, and hate, about France.
And lastly, but not leastly, Jen, at Amazing Trips, for giving me much needed perspective… ahem… sorry Jen.

  • fun getting to know you right off the bat!

  • I have a stuffed animal from my youth that I won’t let either one of my kids touch, either! But I can’t bring myself to put him in a ziplock bag. He’s on a shelf they can’t reach, at least for now!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

  • OK. I’ve put of going to post my tagging as long as possible. I read your blog entry, read the comments and read the latest entry in each of my co-tagged’s blogs. Now I’ve got no more excuses and am going to write my entry. :p

  • Perfect. Wonderful in every way and I related to nearly everything you wrote. Not having more kids, but hanging on to the stuff (and maybe the idea). Starting and not finishing. The lovie. (Oh, lordy, do I get that one. Mine is a blanket I call a cubbie.) Also, I never complain about folding laundry ’cause I do it in front of the boob tube. It justifies my TV addiction. I can get through a 2 hour movie on 3 loads. NICE!

Thanks for playing the game! What fun!
