“C say bye bye to K. It’s time to go home!”
C turns her face into my leg and shakes her head no.
“Come one, say bye bye.”
“Ok let’s go. See you tomorrow everyone. Thank you!”
I load C into the car. She’s still mute.
I get into the driver’s seat and head home. Ten minutes into the drive home I hear from the back a faint “Bye bye K!”
It’s quickly followed by “Bye, bye C. Bye bye A. Bye bye G.” And so on and so forth. By the time we are home she has started the list all over again. She might be done saying goodbye before we are done with dinner, or she might keep going until bath time.
She might not be punctual with her goodbyes, but at least she’s thorough.
