We made it through the mountains and arrived in Tahoe City around 5pm yesterday, just in time for M, C and I to have a wonderful dinner at a lakefront restaurant. As I sat there nursing a beer and enjoying some yummy fusion type ahi tuna roll I thought over the things for which I am so very thankful.
Obviously there are the usual suspects. I am thankful for my wonderful husband (the lawyer…) and my delicious daughter. I am thankful for my health and my job, both of which enable me to thoroughly enjoy my life. I am thankful for all of my friends; those in real life and those in the computer, the ones who live close by and those who live far away. I am thankful for my amazing family, both blood and in-law, because they give me the strength to be the best person I can be.
As I pondered this I thought beyond the usual things people are thankful for and I realized I was also thankful for some unconventional things. I am incredibly thankful for my laptop because it gives me a freedom I never had before. I am thankful for my blog, because it’s a space I can use to vent, sort my feelings and thoughts, and reflect on the good and bad in my life. Mostly though, as trite as it may sound, I am thankful for the Interntet. The Internet has given me friends and information at a time when I most needed it. I cannot fathom parenting without it.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
ps. I also happen to be Thankful for DSL… dialup… dude… it’s sllloooowwwwww
