Friends

In case anyone hadn’t noticed I’ve been feeling a little blue the last couple of days.
Today I checked in with some of my favorite people and tonight I feel better.

There is nothing like a conversation with a good friend to remind you about what you love most about life. With a good friend you can let your guard down and be yourself. You can get excited about silly things or pontificate about deep issues. It’s not about getting ahead or achieving something. It’s about being yourself and enjoying the moment.

Over the last few years I’ve come to realize that these conversations don’t have to be meaningful or even vocal. Sometimes just a quick instant message chat does the trick. Don’t get me wrong though, nothing beats a nice chat with a friend over a cup of tea or a nice glass of wine!

says that having friends is one way to fullfil your need to be wanted, to feel that you are important in somebody’s life. I think that for me it goes even further than that. When I’m feeling down about my life or even about myself, talking to my friends reminds me about what is good about me. There are people out there who love me for who I am, not for what I do or what I have accomplished. They believe in me and that belief gives me the strength to be the kind of person I want to be.
