"Are you ready?" a friend asked me today via IM.
"Sure." I answered. "I mean, I just have to pull out the bassinet, clean the car seat, buy some bottle nipples, just in case, clean some baby clothes, and find the baby a name. So really I guess, that would be no. No I'm not ready in the least."
It's a good thing new babies don't really need much. I bought diapers on Monday. In theory I'll be providing the milk, but just in case that doesn't work out I have a few formula samples. The car seat will be just as safe a little dirty as it would be sparkling clean. And realistically the baby will just want to sleep in my arms anyway, so the bassinet being stuck under the bed isn't much of an issue. As for a name? She doesn't really need one until kindergarten. Right?

Ah yes, those last few days and weeks before the baby is born. :) I don't think you can every truly be "ready".
